Exchange of property

Hi

We are two brothers and our mother had distributed her property between us before her expiry. I have been given a land property whereas my brother got our house along with some land.

Since he is not staying in the house , I want to exchange the properties between us. But my brother is not willing for full exchange as he want to hold on to the property given to him by mother.

In such a case , is it possible to register only the house  in both of our names and exchange only the land portions?

What will be the registration duties involved?

Afterwards, if there need to be a demolition and rebuilding of the house, how it can be handled?

Please advice.

Yes it can be done. 1, Your brother had to gift his share in that house, along with land, according to terms and conditions arrived by you people. 2, Exchange deed can be done with regards to lands. 3, You have to check with respective state registration department for stamp charges . 4, In future if you want to demolish and rebuild ,you both have  to sign.
