Diary as proof

a diary written by a wife who committed suicide has been submitted to the police by her parents. She penned her fears about the husband being involved with some other woman. However, apart from the diary entries there is no other proof of entanglement. Is the diary an absolute and concrete evidence? Please suggest?

To my mind

[1] the diary will have to be tendered in evidence and proved like any other document.

[2] Unless the statement was made to a person in authority, such statements in the diary, though relevant as being a statement towards the cause of death , will not be admissible as evidence. This is a priliminary opinion.

[3] Dairy is not absolute proof [ as even opinion by handwriting expert is after all an opinion.
