credit card

On credit card of SCB 36k was payable in the year 2009. Received a phone call asking me to make payment of 18k the very next day and the balance will be waived off by way of adjustment. Since, I have no money with me, I approached one of my friends and he gave me a cheque for 18 k, which was given to SCB. After that they stopped sending any statement. Now after 7 years I have received a letter asking to pay 147 k. Please advise on the matter. Thanking you.
