Can foreign organization buy land in chennai

A non-profit organization registered in USA buys land in Chennai in the name of an unregistered society in the year 1967 by assigning a society member as its representative. Next year, 1968 the society is registered in chennai Chennai.  Now dispute arises if land belongs to the international non profit organization or the Indian society

1) is this document Legally valid?

2) can the registered society claim this land which was bought the previous year in their society's name ( because it was bought for society?

3) Who has the legal authority to own this land - Indian society or international organization ?

Seek guidance of your professor / tutor for such hypothetical problems, this platform is meant to help needy litigants and not for imparting coaching .

Financial statements, the correspondence on record between the two agencies,  the name of the valid owner as per title deed and usage determines the ownership.  Those who claim ownership exclusively should file a declaration suit and get such declaration from the court.  Only a local advocate is competent to study entire correspondence, records, audited statements, etc can provide authentic opinion and future course of action as a remedy.

Query is self contradictory

Hello,

As per my opinion, the un-registered society which is lateron registered in India is the owner of land. Otherwise this is illegal transaction.

The unregistered society can transfer the land in subject by registering in the name of Regd society highlighting the situation erupted, if both the situations are genuine and there are no malafide intention involved.

The foreign institute bought a land in Chennai in the name of the society, hence this property belongs to society and not to the foreign institute.

Since the registered title deed is on the  name of the society, the society is the absolute owner of the property and not the foreign institute.

You may peruse the title document and find out the name of the buyer as mentioned in the registered document.
