Visitation rights of a father for an adult child

Can anyone tell me that when parents got saparated, the child was minor and mother took the child seceratel to some unknown place. After a search for about 6 years, the father found the location of the mother and the child. The mother doesn't wants to stay with the father of the child. At this juncture, has father the visitation right to the child as the child has grown up as an adult by Indian law?

Until child is 18, father has absolutely the right for visitations, and depending on circumstances, custody rights as well. File a petition using guardians and wards act praying for custody with interim visitation rights. By the way, why could you not locate child for 6 years? Didn't you file police complaint?

To clarify, there is nothing called as adult child, these are used by film journalist as fancy.

You can seek visitation rights from court for seeing the child on ocassions.

Visitation court will order.  But most cases the mother will be adamant by feeding child with wrong stories, making the father look like villain.  Instead of going for visitation rights now.  You could as well gone for divorce 6 years back.  You are not divorced, hence there is chance that court will dismiss the matter after 1-2 years stating that as you both are not divorced visitation rights is not warranted.  You will be sent to conciliation, counselling sessions and nothing more.  If you file for divorce, and then mention the above situation, court will have sympathy and might award you relief.
