Surname mismatch in old and new passport

I need a clarification w.r.t. US VISA. Following are the details in my passport. There is an extra P printed in the surname of new passport (shown in bold letter) when compared to surname in old passport. With my new passport I had been to south east Asian countries on tourist VISA with no problems. Since visiting US requires both passports to be carried. Does this matter during US VISA processing? Should I tell this explicitly during VISA interview?

This will not be a big issue.

Since old passport is also linked, one will be able to easily see that one extra 'p' is nothing but a typo.

Therefore you should not unnecessarily worry. If during interview they question about this, you can explain that you did not notice the difference and that at best it appears to be a 'typo' (i.e. typographical error). You need volunteer to give this information. Only when asked, you should say/explain.
