Service Tax on commission

Is service tax payable on commission i receive from the company i work for? i am paid as commission on the total revenues of the company. Am i liable to pay service tax on it if the income exceeds 8 lacs. If yes, How can I avoid falling in service tax bracket?

The levy would depend on whether you are in the payroll of the company or you are  working as a commission agent for the company. In case of the later you would be liable for payment of service tax and you would be liable to pay service tax once your income from the commission exceeds Rs 10 lakhs in 2008-09.
