Right of widow mother in property of living son

I am married and my widow mother lives with me in my own house, registered in my single name.

My wife says that as a wife ,she has all rights over the house and my mother has no rights and hence my wife can decide whether my mother can live in that house or not, who can enter the house , who can live in that  house etc .

What does law say about my mother's right on that property ?

Please quote relevant laws/ sections/rulings

Thanks a lot in anticipation

Legally speaking, neither your wife nor your mother have any ownership right over your house during your lifetime, and after your demise both will be your legal heirs and shall have equal share and equal rights in that house.

However, you have your responsibilities towards both of them. You are equally liable to maintain your wife and mother.

Your wife do not have any legal right to decide whether your mother can live in your house or not  and also she cannot throw your mother out of your house if you do not wish so.

Try to handle the situation skillfully and resolve it amicably so that neither your relationship with your wife will be strained nor your mother will lose the shelter over her head and support of her son which she desperately need in the evening of her life.
