Can we justify or ratify adverse possession

Dear all

The hon'ble SC has come down hard on the cencept of adverse possession in property related law. In the first week of Sept,2011 , the highest court in India has made a scathing critizism on illegal occupiers of land and buildings. An illegal tresspass of land by a person cannot become his property just because 12 years limitation period is over. An unjustifiable possession like illegal occupation or trespass cannot be and should not be ratified by simply looking at the expiry of limitation period prescribed under the draconian Law relating to Adverse Possession. It is high time this ridiculous practice ended.

Sir,

Please clarify how and what provision of law gives rights to a person in possession of property more than twelve years?
