Facts and question is vague and ambiguous.

Seek guidance of your professor / tutor.

In what way SBI is connected to PF amount?

Is the deceased was the Employee of SBI and if so whether other terminal benifits subject to eligibility of length of service and other conditions, finalised payment of:

  • Gratuity
  • Encashment of Leave if any
  • Family Pension.

If SBI finalised the above, there must be a reason why PF is not finalised despite the fact that a valid nomination is available.

You may seek the assistance of the Union to which the deceased Employee belonged and/or his erstwhile Colleges and Friends in the bank to take up with the management to get the issue resolved.

If the grievance is against State Bank, you can file an online complaint to SBI stating the details of such documents that were provided claiming the amount. There is a time frame for settlement of claims and not settling within a reasonable time amounts to deficiency of service and harassment.   Contact the bank in person, learn where the hurdles are, make this as a grievance, and also post it in pgrms online portal.  Issue notice under CP Act if there is no response to your complaint from Bank.   You can go to either Banking Ombudsman or District forum for remedy and the costs may not be more than Rs.500/- in all if you appear as a party in person.

You can submit your grievance to EPFO.The EPFO has a provision of charging damages or penalty from the employers who are unable to deposit PF contributions as mandated under the EPF Scheme 1952. Employers are required to deposit dues on a month's salary by 15th of the next month. However, they get 10 days grace for payment after that.
