No settlement after relieving

A Teacher worked in a self financing school for a week. As the working hours at the school is from 6.45 AM to 6 PM, the teacher has tendered resignation citing health issues.

The teacher was relieved with the original certificate which was submitted to the school at the joining date. But the teacher was not given any salary. Can the teacher claim the salary? What's the procedure? Thanks

If her resignation was accepted and relieved as per their own rules, then she is entitled for the arrears of salary till the date of her last working day.

You may send them a legal notice demanding the same, failing which you may plan to file a suit for recovery of arrears of salary

If a private school teacher's salary is in arrears, here are some steps to take: 1. _Communicate with the school management_: Schedule a meeting with the school administration to discuss the issue. 2. _Submit a written request_: Provide a written request for pending salary, including specific dates and amounts. 3. _Check employment contract_: Review the employment contract to understand salary payment terms and any applicable penalties. 4. _Contact local teacher associations_: Reach out to local teacher associations or unions for guidance and support. 5. _File a complaint with the labor department_: If the school fails to respond, file a complaint with the local labor department or commissioner. 6. _Consider legal action_: If necessary, consult a lawyer to explore legal options, such as filing a case in court. 7. _Follow up regularly_: Regularly follow up with the school administration to ensure resolution. Remember to document all communication and keep records of salary payments and correspondence. Additionally, consider: - _Labor laws_: Familiarize yourself with relevant labor laws, such as the Payment of Wages Act, 1936. - _Teacher welfare organizations_: Contact organizations focused on teacher welfare for support and guidance. - _Government authorities_: Reach out to local government authorities, such as the District Education Officer, for assistance.
