Marriage certficate

Hi,

I got married in Madhya Pradesh and currently living in Mumbai. Now I have to get my marriage certificate. So I want to know if I can apply for a marriage certificate in Mumbai or do I need to apply it in Madhya Pradesh?

Also, I got married according to Hindu rituals. So in order to get the marriage certificate, do i need to register the marriage?

Thanks in advance for help on those queries!

Yes now It is compulsary to registered your marriage . Marriage certificate is issued only when you registered your marriage in your local area sub -registrar office in which jurisdiction your marriage is solemnised .

You can apply for registration of your marriage within the jurisdictional registrar office wherein the place of your marriage situates and obtain an extract or the marriage certificate from that office itself.
