Service Book of an employee will not be issued.  But the extract of the entries of the Service Book may be obtained. for the extracts you have to pay a fee of Rs.2/- for each copy/ext ract.  proof is not necessary under RTI.  you have to affix Rs.10/- court fee lable on the application.

For obtaining the service records of either of the spouses, requires valid reasons in writing.RTI is not applicable.

With the recent decision of Central Information Commission Service book of Government Employee can be disclosed under Right to Information Act 2005. This means a third party can have access to most of the information about the employee career including disciplinary action, his leave, place of posting etc.

The purpose for which the Service Book is required by the Spouse has to be clearly stated in the RTI Application. Here is a case.Family Pensioners are required to intimate the Aadhar Card details within the stipulated time.Whereas, when the <spouse>is alive the entry is not permitted in the service records. In the sense, the family should basically qualify for the family pension only based on the general happenings.Procedurally the copy of the Aadhar Card has to be signed in person and the original has to be produced to the Pension Disbursing Agency based on the general happenings and not concurrently..Larger public do not understand the fact that the Life certificates can not be on the signature(s) of their own. This is applicable to all classes of pensioners.Clarifications already exist.
