how far a company may go to investigate?

Is it legal, if case management team of an organization checks an employee's personal belongings like wallet or mobile in investigation of password sharing?

Password sharing happened between two employees of same organization to mark their attendance on a tool where that tool is being used to mark attendance or to apply leaves only.

An employee can mark attendance for self.

If company want to check it should issue a speaking/written order for personal belongings.

Are yu a member of employee's/trade unions?
