Divorce - marriage expenses

hi,

My wife has filed for divorce from me.

She has filed for an Original Petition in Ernakulam court and is claiming Rs. 23 Lakhs as engagement, reception & marriage expenses held in May 2010. How will the court decide on this amount?

It is just a harrassment tactic of her family who happen to be financially strong. What are my options?

There is no provision to claim marriage expenses as per law. On what ground divorce is filed

They have filed on grounds of desertion and cruelty. That is totally false.

There is no law through you can claim the marriage or engagement expenses from husband or wife. You can file the *extortion of money* case against her.
