Do we need to transfer property to child we adopt?

Hi Experts,

My cousin is planning to adopt a child from an orphanage, When we enquired about the process, they are asking to transfer a non-movable property to child's name and then only they can start teh process and all the adoption process will be done through court?

Do we really need to transfer property to child we adopt?

Thanks

Prabhu

1. Transferring property to child is not a condition for adoption.

2. Since it's a child from orphanage instiution that you are adopting the court's concurrence for adoption is necessary.
