Difference between lawyer, solicitors and attorney

What is difference between lawyer, solicitors and attorney? Please explain the role of each

lawyer is generalized word used for people whi are practicing law. whereas attorney is used in US to address a lawyer.
Solicitor is equivalent of US attorney.
