Unchallenged averments

What is the meaning unchallenged/un-rebutted  averments in the court ?

does merely denying an averment in WS or Claim affadavit amount to chellanged

my understanding is that an averment made in court by a plaintiff/respondent needs to be challenged during cross of petitioner /respondent or through evidence submission

if a averment is not questioned during cross or counter evidence is not produced in court wrt to averment then it is said to unchallenged or un rebutted

can any please guide
