QUESTION

I am in Australia and we are getting married in June 2012, Now we want to submitt the notice of marriage to the registrar so that when I come back we can straight away get married and obtaint the certificate.

My QUESTION: Do both of us (boy and girl) require to be present on front of registrar to submitt the notice of our intended marriage?

Also, is it possible if I send my written and duly signed consent  to the notice, it can be acceptable by the law? Memebers of my family and her mom can be present at that time.

Please help!!! please help!!

@ Annapurna Kumariji,

If the marriage intended to be under Special marriage Act, then one month notice is mandatory.

If the marriage is under Hindu Marriage Act, then you can solemnize the marriage in a temple, or Arya Samaj (they give certificate also) and with wedding card, photo graph proofs, you can register your marriage under Section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, the very next day.

@Vibhor,

Along with the application for intending marriage under Special Marriage Act, both bride and groom require to file affidavits in prescribed proforma.   You get your affidavit attested at the Embassy of Australia and also get attested power of attorney in favour of to one of your near  relative for the purpose of filing the applicatin and after 30 days on the date of  registration, you come and sign the register and get certificate.  You also note that NOC is also required for the people living abroad.
