Can ideas be patented

There are two parts to your question

1. Is idea patentable?

No ideas cannot be patented. But, you can work on your idea to give it concrete existence and then file a patent.

2. It is a business idea

Business methods are not patentable under section 3(k) 0f the Indian patent Act, 1970. However you can try you luck at USPTO where " anything under the sun that is made by man" is patentable

if i get down to business with my idea.. , make a company register it and start working upon building it into a brand , it may take a year or 2 and btn someone else does cheat upon and strt his own work..then what can i do ?
