Appearance of witness in police station

X is a witness in FIR. But she lives in Bangalore about 800 km away from the local police station which has requested FIR.

X suffers from an illness.

X's doctor has advised her against traveling long distance.

Can police visit her instead to record her version, statement etc if she produces her doctor's note along with a request letter?

Quick Summary
A witness in Bangalore, living 800km from the police station and suffering from an illness advised against travel, inquired if police could visit her to record her statement. The advice given is to formally apply to the police station. If the matter progresses to court, an Advocate Commissioner might be appointed. However, if it's still at the investigation stage, police can indeed visit the witness's residence to record their statement.

First, make such an application and let them consider the request and then decide as per their response.  If the matter is in court and you are a witness in court, then they may consider appointing an Advocate Commissioner.

Facts posted suggest that the matter is still at the investigation stage. If so, the police can meet the witness at the residence and record his/her statement.
