What is a "true copy"?

Subregistrar requires presenting original and a true copy to register a power of attorney.  Can person just make a photocopy and self attest it, or is something more official required to make it a "true copy"?

In the recent past the GOI have made it clear that self attested copy is enoughand when present for registration origional should be produced for verification.Notarisation is not necessary.

Dear user,

True Copy is a replica of an original primary document. It is the same as certified copy and notarised copy and has to be certified by a notary. The presence of a true copy does not mean that the original document is authentic. It only signifies that the copy is a true copy of what the original document is.

Thus, to solve your query, I would say to get your photocopy notarised in order to make it a "True Copy". I hope I was able to answer your question. Please feel free to put up any follow up questions in case of doubts.
