Can a hindu marriage can be solemnized without mangalsutra tieing but with registration in a register office by exchanging garlands?

The system of tying 'Mangalsutra' is not an essential element of Hindu Marriage.

With or without mangal sutra is just a customary & traditional marriage, but registered marriage is quite a legal marriage, irrespective of whether mangal sutra is weared or not.

Tying a mangalsutra or the nupital thread is just a part of the traditions that are followed in the marriage ceremony indicating the marriage has been done or both of them are tied together for the rest of their lives. No doubt it has got its own significance, but it cannot be said that the marriage is invalid without the hold thread being tied. All other evidences will confirm the marriage to have taken place as per the customs followed by the parties to the marriage.

Probably, you think that the Registrar of marriages was an ignorant person, not knowing the legality of the registered marriage, but registered the marriage.
By the way, what kind of problem you have with any one else's marriage, whether that was with or without mangasutra?

Sir, i didnt mean the registrar is ignorant and just doing his duty without knowing the procedure...
My frens are goin to do register marriage, so we had doubt whether nuptial thread is essential, because many persons told many opinions as it is must, some told it is not essential.. So we thought of asking experts for which i asked this question.
