Respected Sir, I have been asked to attest my Caste certificate,marksheets to apply for a post graduate exam.
Is it okay if I can do notary?

Any attestation would be done only in Xerox Copies and it could be done.

1. For purposes of attestation of Caste Certificate, Mark Sheet and any other relevant documents for your studies, the take clear photocopies and have it attested by a Gazetted Officer (PSU Bank Manager, Officer rank Govt. employee ....). Notary attestation is not admissible for your mentioned purposes.

Notary Attestation is not admissible. Some institutes/organizations ask the xerox copies of Caste certificate, study certificate, Marks sheet, etc., attested by a Gazetted Officer and some self-attested.

Presently, Government of India has adopted self attestation as an element of Citizen Centric Administration. You enquire with the concerned institution whether they have adopted this public policy.

Most of the organisations are accepting self attested copies now a day. Confirm whether same is acceptable in present case.
You can get these attested from any school / college principal or any government gazetted officer to use the document in educational institution or otherwise.Some Banks are extending service for its customers after charging service charges.

Self ttestation os such documents is equally acceptable. The switch to self-attestation in government-related work is duly based on the recommendation of second Administrative ReformsCommission in its 12th Report titled Citizen Centric Administration-The Heart of Governence.
Such attestation is equal to the attestation of any Gazetted officer of Notary Public. ..

Mr.Rajendra K Goyal had advised here that Notary Attestation will not be acceptable and only an Gazetted Officer,s attestation would be acceptable.. It is an Wrong Statement and Notary Advocates Attestation would be Legally Valid to Certify the True Copies..
