Dear Ashok, You can give statement in writting to IO u/s 161 Cr.P.C. but mind it giving statement in writting will be trouble, you cannot change it. vice versa you can take defense that you have not given this statement. if your case is strong then you can give statement in writing so that police cannot manipulate it.
