When can we file exparte in contested divorce

Contested divorce file by husband in march 2015. Both husband and wife attended counselling. But after that wife didn't appear for counter. When is ex parts eligible. What is the time duration

As a common practise the court proceeds ex parte against a party on any subsequent date of non appearance . However as per the landmark judgement of Sangram Singh vs state of UP , the party can be proceeded against ex parte , only on the first date of the hearing
