Travel abroad after FIR filed

A person had thratened me that he will file a police complaint against me. My lawyers advised me to wait till police calls me. Four years passed I do not know whether it is filed at all or not. Now I have got invitation to visit US and some foreign countries. Will there be any difficulty while boarding the flight? Shall I be prevented from going abroad? If yes what should I do?
