Timelimit to file a chargesheet

Hi ,

If an FIR has been filed in Dec 2007 under sec 420 & others of IPC  , what is the time limit to file a chargesheet if not filed yet , Conditional bail has been obtained.

There is no time limit to file a charge-sheet as per the law. Normally if a chargesheet in 420 etc is not filed within 60 days of first order of remand - the accused gets an indefeasible right to bail, here since accused already on bail - there is no time limit. However if you feel the matter is being prolonged unnecessarily you can approach the High Court u/s 482 CrPC.

There is no time limit for 420 as punishable with more than 3 years.
