TAX RELIEF SOUGHT FOR FOOD ITEMS

The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains' Merchants Association has urged the State Government for tax exemption and reduction for tamarind, wheat flour, maida, atta, suji etc. The association, while welcoming the announcement of tax exemption and tax reduction for certain food items by the Government in the Budget for 2010-11, has in a memorandum submitted to Mr.S.N.M. Ubayadulla, Minister for Commercial Taxes, last week in Chennai. It has requested the Minister to make necessary announcement of these items during the grant for Commercial Tax Department.
