Sleep is citizen’s basic right, says SC

New Delhi: Holding that “sleep’’ is a basic necessity and biological need of life, the Supreme Court has upheld a Maharashtra government order to deny permission for the conduct of music functions or cultural programmes at venues that are within 100 metres of educational institutions and hospitals.
A bench upheld the validity of the government order denying permission to Farhd K Wadia, chief executive officer of Power Productions, a leading audio studio in Mumbai, for conducting a music event at an open air auditorium near a school.
The permission was denied by the authorities on the grounds that the venue was located within 100 metres of the school and a hospital. “Interference by the court in respect of noise pollution is premised on the basis that a citizen has certain rights being ‘necessity of silence’, ‘necessity of sleep’, ‘process during sleep’ and ‘rest’, which are biological necessities and essential for health. Silence is considered to be one of the human rights,” it observed. AGENCIES

Are these rights available to accused persons in police custody? What about the statements made u/s 27 of Evidence Act at Odd hours in the Police station and interrogations carried out at odd hours.

Charter Challenge Begins

Remembering the Headlines

Photobucket

Back when the story was breaking, the media saught to downplay and criminalize the poor instead of reporting the TRUTH about the constant victimization by police and city officials. The TOP STORY, as it reads here, is about how 4 Canadians died "Fighting for Freedom" in another country, while right below it we can see how citizens of THEIR OWN country are being murdered and violated by corrupt policy and snobbery that is so well blended into today's culture, even when placed on the front page it goes undetected for what it is.

Instead of charges being brought against these same city officials and police for their savage "Crimes against Humanity", the poor and homeless are instead being FORCED to DEFEND their "Right To Sleep". Not only does this go unnoticed by the rest of the citizens of this country and the world, the Higher levels of government that have noticed have not saught JUSTICE for the people involved, have instead saught to prevent their case from even being heard. Upon failing that, have still successfully delayed the proceedings for a number of years, greatly reducing the number of witnessness against them. Considering their is a documented body count of at LEAST 2 people a week, that adds up to quite a few since the tent city began in Oct. 2005.

You do the math !!!

Please consider the "Right to Sleep" as considered by the SC, during the current scenerio of Election canvassing by political parties.

Please inform concerned citizens and NGO's  about the above SC order and capitalise the SC order to enforce Peace
