Settlement deed

MY WIFE HAS A FLAT IN BANGALORE AND HER SISTER HAS ANOTHER IN THE SAME COLONY.CAN EACH EXECUTE A SETTLEEMNT DEED TO ONE ANOTHER FOR THEIR PROPERTY?I.E.MY WIFE EXECUTING A SETTLEEMNT DEED TO HER SISTER FOR HE FLAT AND HER SISTER TO MY WIFE THRU ANOTHER DEED?

1. Settlement Deed postulates a pre-existing interest in both the properties of both the parties - after which a workable solution is carved out by means of a settlement. If both the parties have got the properties in sucession and they are possessing different properties with no formal partition etc. then they can execute a registered settlement deed.

2. On the other hand if these are seperate properties - a registered deed of exhchange is your thing.
