Resale flat mhada transfer query

Buying a flat in building constructed by society on plot allotted to them on lease basis by Mhada. do i need to get Mhada transfer.?? I heard that it is no more required. but the Bank whom i am approaching for loan is asking for it. The building is 9 yrs old. The seller is original member of Society. Sale Agreement registration & stamp duty is done only bank loan amount is pending. Plz guide...thanks
