Request to ex- employer to re-issue the form 16

Hi,

I was working in one of the software firm few years ago (2008-2010) and they issued me the form 16 at that time.Somehow i lost those form 16 documents and those become mandatory for my Background verification process in my current employer where i recently joined.

so i requested my ex-employer to re-issue the form 16 for the period i worked (they might have tracking my details for sure as the employer is MNC) and they are not responding.

Could someone please suggest me , how to get form 16 for period 2008-2010.

Thanks

Baji Rahaman

The form16 is issued by usually by Manger-Finance that signs on Form 16.

Request the appointing authority, MD, Finance Manager. The Companies are known to retain the docs for 5Y.

ITR submitted by you should also suffice.

You may try by downloading Form 26AS from I.Tax site.

Log on at : https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/

Enter your correct PAN No and create your account instantly.

Click for "View Form 26AS Tax Credit"  that is in quick links on right side of home page.

You will be redirected to TDS-CPC website to view form 26AS (Tax Credit).
Choose year of Assessment and "download".

You may also try and obtain copy from IT  office where the return was filed.

If still you are facing issues approach your lawyer/IT lawyer/CA and they would know how to get it for you.

I endorse the view of Mr. Kumar Doab above on the subject.  You may contact the top official of the company if you do not get response from the lower management level and as advised the ITR may suffice your requirement.
