Power of attorney

Hi All,

I am resident from Mumbai, I have bought flat in bangalore which will be due for registration and stamp duty within 2 to 3 months.

But I shall be going out of India soon for job purpose and wont be back before 1 year or so.

Is there anyway I can give power of attorney to my father who is resident of Mumbai so that he can do registration of flat and pay stamp duty on my behalf

Also I would like to give my father full authority to put someone on rent and look after the maintenance of this flat.

Can someone please guide me on the procedure to do this

Regards,

Mohanraj

In some states relative ( e.g; family member like spouse, parent)  without even power of attorney can register the property in the name of buyer on behalf of buyer. However at the time of sale the owner or person authorized by a valid power of attorney should be present.

You should be able to buy and rent out the property and collect rent thru power of attorney.

A lawyer from Bangalore: Karnataka can explain better.

Valuable advice of learned experts/members is sought.
