Need of original documet during registrtion

Dear Friends,

       My client wants to gift his property to his wife by the way of settlement deed, but the original document was in the hands of another share holder of the property which cannot be obtained. The registrar refused to register the settlement deed without such original document. so kindly help me to register such document by getting court direction, in what provision i have to file a petition ? or any other way to resolve this problem.
