Need for sale deed?

HI,

I have purchased an under-construction flat in Pune, Maharashtra in 2010.

I registered the agreement in registrar office, paid stamp duty and all other fees.

Now, the construction is finished and flat is ready for possession. When I asked buider for sale deed, he said that we have a registered agreement and so, there is no need for sale deed. Is he correct?

Also, please guide me what document shall I ask him for and any other legalities while taking possession of a flat.

Thanks and best regards

You cannot become an owner of the flat without a registered sale deed in your favour.

YES IT IS CORRECT. ONE CAN NOT BE AN OWNER WITHOUT GETTING REGISTERED A SALE DEED IN HIS OR HER FAVOUR.
