My landlord wants me to pay for broken machine

I am renting a house with my family for 10 months.

There has been trouble with the dishwasher after 6 months.

The landlord has been sending people to fix it. It got fixed everytime he sends someone.

But lately he says that i have to buy a new one.

His reason:

1. I am misusing the dishwasher because i havent been cleaning out the scraps on the plates which resulted to a leakage.( from a professional dishwashing expert)  my reply: i been washing it clean everytime i put dishes into dish washer. BUT Land lord found evidence of scraps of food and tea bag blocking the drain pipe.

2. i pay for new one for 300 , and he puts in 300  for a new 600 machine. But if i dont do this ( this option is not on contract but a better suggestion for the both of us). OR he go to insurance for 1000.

In this situation I thoughtt with my 10 years of renting never happened. What can i do?

Was i misusing? ANd wHAT if i am Mis Using? isnt it still the landlord's repsonsibility to repair? Even if it CAnnot be fixed?
