My grandfather was a farmer. can i buy agricultural land?

My grandfather was a farmer. His brother is still doing farming. My father has our agricultural land on his name in Maharashtra. My both aunts (my father's sisters) has different agricultural lands on their names. So, can I buy other agricultural land on my name? I am working in Mumbai in Computers field and want to buy agricultural land for investment purpose as it comes under budget. So, can I do that?

I am confused regarding this. And if suppose, I bought 1 acre of agricultural land, can I convert 5 gunthas of it into N.A. for constructing house?

I have had similar questions and based on my research yes you can buy agricultural land as both yopur father are agriculturalists. You will have to prove your lineage though and the rest of it should be straightforward.

Ok. I got it that I can buy agricultural land and we can construct farm house on it. But can we convert small proportion of it into NA? I know, we can build house on NA land and facilties like light, water etc. are provided to such houses. Normally, NA plots comes under village territory and gram panchyats take care of such facilites. Agricultural land usually lies on outskirts of village. So, I think collectors usually don't approve NA request for agricultural land which is away from village.

Please explain. I've elaborated what I think of this matter.
