my cousin has case filed against him under ipc 279 &337, how long will it take for the case to end

we are from Bangalore, while our family was on a trip to kancheepuram we met with an accident on highway in tamilnadu. the luggage auto driver took a turn from left lane to middle lane without any indicator or signal. my cousin was driving the car and he tried to avoid the collision by pulling car to right side I.e from middle lane to right lane. But still he couldn't completely avoid the accident and the auto and our car collided, bcz of which the auto fell and the 2 persons inside the auto were injured. our car broke down in the middle of the road. we took the injured to the hospital and we went to police station to settle things, but police took the statement of auto driver and files FIR without taking our statement. the auto driver haven't filed any complaint because he had no documents of vehicle and he didn't even have a DL. But police says my cousin is accused and he should come to court and pay fine under ipc 279 &337. my cousin is aspiring for his upsc exams and he s worried that paying fine May prove him guilty and ll hinder his career. What choice do we have, plz help

also, we have all our documents correct.

Mere Paying of fine in this case will not hinder his chances of future appointment.  I don't think police will be calling him for paying fine.  That is the job of the Court - not that of the police.  Better check up.

Having possession of all the documents does not absolve anybody if he causes accident and hurt to somebody/

I think! as of now you may free after overbear.police may call you after you neglecting. the thing is better you pay the penalty around 2k is the max penalty from court, make it clear .....also I'm not lawyer.

I just told wt I know

Paying fine is conviction.  It is not honourable acquittal.

It is IPC matter and not mere traffic challan.
