Mutation of inherited property

Is it necessary to go for mutation of a "inherited property " (final intention is to sell off the property) If yes then what is the process of mutation in Uttar Pradesh (property is urban residential )

Submit all docs to the concerned authority per procedure and get the inheritance recorded.

@Ramesh singh 1)we are 3 legal heirs can't we get mutation done in the name of all 3 of us ? 2)property in question is in UP but id proofs (of all legal heirs)are of a different state does that matter? 3)how long does the process of mutation take?
