IPC 279

I resident of delhi was owner of a car which I sold in 2005 and still retain the delivery receipt and the buyers voters I'd card. Last week Rajasthan police IO came to my place and I learnt that this vehicle is still registered in my name till date and its involved in some road accident in Bharatpur ,Rajasthan where victim reported that car number to police which I owned till 2005. But unfortunately still registered in my name. Seemingly IO registered case under IPC 279 . I want to know my legal liability in this particular case and also how to secure myself from any such incident accident or liability occurring from this car(sold in 2005) for future since its still in my name at RTO office Regards

Attach copy of delivery note along with a letter stating that you had sold the car on so and so date to the person and send it to the rto office through registered post with acknowledgement.this is to avoid future problems

Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Advocate)     19 September 2016

you are liable to the accident as long as the RC is in your name.

detailed views can be formed nly on perusal of the papers.
