Holding certificate

I accepted to join in a school as a teacher and submitted all my original certificates. Unfortunately i couldnot work... Before the joining date i informed i am in tough situation to work there. Bt they are nit returning my certificates and asking 48000 to give my certificates... Is dere any possible way to get back my certificates???
