My wife & me got married in 1962 in Neyveli, TamilNadu. We appear not have done registration of our marriage then. We require the marriage certificate for submission to US authorities. We would like to know:
1. whether registration was compulsory in 1962 in Tamil Nadu.
2. Will the authorities will issue a "Non-availability of record of the marriage"?
3. There were no registration office in Neyveli or near about as we know. Will the present District Registrar having at present jurisdiction issue such Non-availability certificate?
4. If the above is not possible, what is the remedy?
