Getting back of original property document from lender

My friend took loan of Rs.10000 by givingoriginal site document along with promissory note in august 1998 @ 2% interest. He paid more than Rs.10000 as interest only. The lender has not returned the document yet and asking Rs.200000 For interest not paid period. What legal action can be taken?

The site is in Hosur and promissory note prepared and signed in bangalore. Both are residing in bangalore only.
