Written declaration articles as gift at marriage

I have one query regarding article exchanged at the time of marriage. If a marrige is registered under Hindu marriage act, then it is assumed as dowry free. But it doesn't stop filing dowry case against husband's side shouting a huge amount is exchanged at the time of marriage. Is it legal to declare in wriiten that all articles given at the time of marriage as gifts for bride or groom and it is counter signed by both parties? Will it help in future if dowry case is filed? Or it will create more complicacy for section 406? I am looking for view from advocates practicing criminal law.
