Threats to take out the power plug by building association

Hello, I have been staying in a rented flat in an apartment. As per the agreement between us and the owner of the flat, the monthly maintenance of the flat will be paid directly by the owner to the building association. However, the owner has not paid the maintenance dues and the association has been threatening us that they will take away the power plug if the maintenance is not paid. Even though we have been paying the electricity bills on time to the BESCOM. Is that legal? Can they take remove the power plug even though we have been paying electricity dues on time? Would really appreciate an answer to this. Thanks Sree

Certainly, the association has no such rights or authority; they would certainly be committing an illegality. However, why don't you try to find out an amicable solution to the issue?

The simple solution is pay the maintenance, obtain receipts and deduct from the rent payable to the owner.

Have you been paying electric bills of some others or common use to BESCOM ?

Certainly not and never.  You are paying actual bills for your consumption, as you know maintenance of common area is different from paying your own consumption bills, Do not mix up things.
