English in our education system

Ever wondered since when the English has been inculcated in our education system?

Or what and which language was taught to us before English was introduced into our education system?

And even more importantly, who proposed this idea of bringing in the European education system in our books?

Well, the answer lies in the Minutes of Lord Macaulay, 1835 (for those of non-legal background, this man is the one who drafted the punitive law in 1859 which is helpful in punishing crimes committed in your neighbourhood and country even today!) wherein he explained the Britain Government how English is better worth knowing than Sanskrit or Arabic and it is possible to make Indian natives thoroughly good English Scholars.

It’s not that the British Council did nothing for reviving the literature in India; rather they had allocated huge budget of lakhs of rupees (mind you, in 1800s) for printing Arabic and Sanskrit books, which unfortunately found no purchasers!!

Interestingly, you will find that if you would have born in those times, the Government would have paid you money for getting educated in Sanskrit or Arabic dialects. And thus, your parents would have become richer by educating you instead of succumbing in the education loan.

Another interesting incident includes the petition against the government demanding compensation for “injuring” students, taken best of education available, for teaching them in conventional literature which left no room for bettering their condition and procured them for neither bread nor respect.

If you are a reader, then it’s a Sunday treat!!

P.S.: Readers are advised to read it scientifically and fundamentally and not emotionally. It’s the story of systematic historical development of India based on profound reasoning.
