Effect of imposition of cost on criminal and civil cases

Dear Experts,

In cases against me under 498A and divorce case filed by wife, in both cases, costs of Rs. 300 and Rs. 2000 have been imposed by JMIC and family court respectively on me on account of delay. Though the delay was not intentional and due to cirucumstances beyond my control and the same was explained to both JMIC and Family Court Judge but they didn't waiver the cost imposed and I thereafter paid the costs.

Please advise what effect these costs can have on the final outcome of the cases against me.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Govind

The cost imposed is procedural; the matter is required to be decided on merits.
