IF it is proved that you took dowry, you will do time in jail ie 7 years for taking dowry.  Plus lose govt job.  Best is return dowry and do settle matter amicably.  Dont fight case which you cant win if you taken dowry.  Keep me posted aobut your case for further advice.

Dear Amrit Kumar,

You are an educated man.  Though these are small things and given as token of love and affectoin.  Such are considered as dowry under Dowry Prohibition Act.  It is a punishable crime.  There are instances where girls side put Johnny Walker whiskey bottle as dowry item.

 

If you have taken those items, return them in court hall itself and compromise the matter.  Pay her one time alimony and get mutual divorce.  Your marriage is already over.
