EC and sale deed showing a different plot number

Hi,

I stay in Chennai. In EC it shows as plot no 372. In sale deed it shows plot no 377.

But in EC plot no 377 some other is being currently holding. My name is not there in plot no 377.
kindly help me in this regard.
Thanking you

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a common issue where the plot number on a Sale Deed differs from the Encumbrance Certificate (EC). The advice suggests that if the EC incorrectly lists the plot number, an application should be made to the Sub-Registrar to correct the index entries. If the error lies within the Sale Deed itself, a Rectification Deed executed by the seller may be necessary. For persistent issues, legal recourse through the High Court is also mentioned as a final option.

No definite suggestion is possible unless the documents are perused and issues, discussed.

If you bought plot No.377 and shows as 372 in EC, it is the mistake of the staff of Sub Registrar while feeding the entries (online).  So make an application to the Sub Registrar to edit the indexes, marking a copy to the District/Joint Registrar of the District.  If if is wrongly noted in the sale deed, it requires a Rectification deed to be executed by the seller.
